First course in mitral valve surgery

The first Mitral Academy educational course is a two days introductory meeting aiming to provide the fundamental skills for mitral valve management and repair, both conventional sternotomy and minimally  invasive. All level cardiac surgeons are very welcome.

This course will give participants the unique opportunity to interact one-to-one with undisputed opinion leader in the field of mitral valve repair. Participants will have a hands-on experience performing different variant of mitral valve repair techniques.

Although an introductory course, particular emphasis will be given to minimally invasive access, percutaneous technologies and less conventional approaches.
The participants will have a hands-on experience performing different MV repair strategies for both anterior and posterior leaflet pathologies. These will include both leaflet resection and non-resection techniques, commissural repair strategies, as well as different chordal approaches. In addition, we will review different surgical therapies for secondary MR including ring selection, leaflet extension techniques, and MV replacement.
